Hi all

Dont know whether or not this is in the right place or not, but my fuel cap isnt locking when I lock my car..

Only drawn to this because a rumor going around that a couple of lads have been going around a night stealing fuel from tanks.

With the car locked I am able to open up the flap and remove my fuel cap.

Is this a simple mechanism that could be easily replaced or repaired? My car is a 1994 W202.

Thanks

Lee

If it's like my ML then the actuator pin may not be aligning with the filler cap; try adjusting the filler cap position.

Otherwise it may be a fault with the actuator itself.

As JohnneyRob, when you lock the car a pin should move out and into the ring on the left side of the flap, locking it, to test if the pin is coming out, lock the car with the flap open and observe if the pin moves out, if it doesn’t move then the actuator may be at fault.

If you remove the side trim inside the boot you will see a RED? I think? lever, in the area of the flap which can be pulled sideways, I believe you can use this lever to manually lock or unlock the flap, it is there for manual operation when for instance the flap doesn’t open when you need to refuel.
