I am getting about 25 MPG - 9 KM a litre driving in London roads and 36 MPG - 13 KM a Litre on motorways. I was expecting a little more.

Is that normal or should it be more?

I have now checked it is much less than what others are getting.

My 2001 petrol beemer was giving 19 in City and 35 in motorways, so I guess it may not be due to driving style.

So the question is what else could be wrong.

Big car for a 5 pot engine. Not sure what you should be getting, obviously the 2.7 is a lot better suited to the C Class. I think the ML boys get around the same as you with the 2.7 engine.

I used to get 580 miles for every tank in my E270. mostly m-ways mind

What's the water temperature at after a longer Run?

mpg e270 cdi

mpg for my e270cdi on a run after remap

Best engine so they say for the E and the most economical. It should be doing mud to high 40s mpg on the motorway and 30 in town.

@ mercedesmanleed

What is remap? What do I need to get my do a decent miles?

***, any suggestion from your side.

25 and 35 seem quite low particularly since my old petrol beemer did that anyway.

Best out of mine - 48.7
Worst - 34.4

Allot of my miles were motorway, although I've found out via this forum since selling that it wasn't getting up to temp as the heaters weren't that hot in minus temperatures!

mct, looks like mine one needs a remap. Can you recommend someone in north west london?

It doesn't need remapped but it should be looked at by a decent mechanic. I use millers eco max additives, they help with the running of the engine.

before having my car remapped I did a trip to scotland from leeds, so up the A1 them the A66 and M6 and M74 before the final 30 miles on a & B roads, i got 46mpg , after remap did the same trip and got 57mpg I do not think that is bad infact it is quite good

when I had the car remaped i was giving the choice to have it maped for performance or for economy or a bit of both a 50/50 is the one I chose, I think knowing what I know now I should have gone for the economy only, would be interesting to find out if it would have realy been better mpg

Have you checked the MPG 'brim to brim' or are you going on the dash computer figures.

The MPG in the dash isn't measured - it's calculated by counting fuel injection pulses and remaps can mess with that.

Mine are actual figures - every trip comupter I've ever had in any car has always been optimistic - sometimes by as much as 10 MPG.

I will have to try it brim to brim, the figures i have used is of the dash, i just guessed they would be right

Ho, Ho, Ho.
The remappers con trick.

The car will be injecting more fuel per pulse than the ECU calculates, so it will over-read by the additional torque the map has produced...say 33%.

What remap did you ask for as I picked up my 270 yesterday and from Leeds to London 200 miles only got 36mpg and was expecting to see mid 40's as I did boot it a bit. What do I ask for and was it a national garage chain and may I ask the cost of the remap and has it hurt the performance
Thanks. Mike. 07400343535

I have averaged 50.5 MPG over 27,000 miles in my CLK270 (manual)
