Fuel consumption from E320 petrol

I have recently purchased an 03 E320 with 114000 miles on the clock and am not getting anywhere near the fuel consumption I would expect. I am mostly doing motorway/dual c/way driving with a bit of urban and am getting an average of about 25MPG. I am not too heavy with my right foot and am used to getting 27.5MPG from a Porsche 996 Carrera 03 with similar mileage. The very best I can get if I drive at a constant 70Mph is about 32MPG (the Porsche gave 38MPG in this instance).
I'd be interested to hear if this is normal for this engine or if I need to have it looked at.

That sounds reasonable to me, Porsche is a much lighter car, so that would help it's MPG. Winter time MPG always seems to drop off anyway, might get better as spring comes.

Sounds right to me?

Its a big car, its auto,

The cold weather currently will not help, having everything on from cold, and even leaving the engine running while demisting it.

Check your tyres but it does sound ok to me.

I have the S Class 320 petrol and average just about 20mpg, motorways I can get to about 34mpg if I travel at 60 ish:( 30mpg at more realistic speeds. The E Class is a big car and need some pulling. I think your figures are about right.

I agree, nothing unusual there....
