Hi, Does anybody recommed a fuel injector cleaner for W126 420 SE?

Best Rgds

Are you looking for:

1. Fuel additive?

2. Solution for cleaning a removed injector at home?

3. Buying an ultrasonic injector cleaning machine for use at home?

4. A local agency with the proper ultrasonic injector cleaning and testing equipment?

If fuel additive... I had good results with both Redex and STP, though others seem to be very happy with Forte. Either way, a few tankfuls of 'super-fuel' - BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power should do the trick (assuming the injector is not clogged beyond in-situ cleaning, in which case '4' above is your only real option).

Many Thanks.. I should be more prescise.. I did mean fuel additive..

Rgds

Just be aware that officially MB do not permit any fuel additives to be added by owners to cars under warranty, including the MB product - however the latter can be added on advise of MB service centre.

They do recommend however use of 'super-fuels' already containing additives - it seems that MB main concern is really drivers not getting the dosage right.

This is just for info, and for other readers, as your W126 is obviously not under original warranty any more.

Used a whole bottle of forte fuel injector cleaner in half a tank of fuel,

this was on my way back from a 234 mile one way trip back from Ian's 124 Works. i'm pretty sure the cleaner on a trip like that would have done the job nicely. Constant motor way speed - half - a tank- got home on empty filled her up again.

Ive been using redex most of the time however, they say to mix it in with a full tank of petrol, i put it in when im just about to go on reserve, then i boot it around for a bit, then fill up.

if im not going to put redex in the next fill up then i dont really go down to the reserve, ideally you should be filling up (as it is recomended) way before the reserve light comes on plainly as older cars may suffer from condensation in the tank and/or obviously years of 'muck' that may build up in the tank over time...get this stuff in your fuel lines and water in your engine then its good night!

Perhaps only in the UK market?

The NA market allows the use of any MB part number or MB approved third party product under the terms of the warranty regardless of who adds it.

"Damage or malfunction resulting from poor fuel quality or from blending additional fuel additives other than those tested and approved by us for use on Mercedes-Benz vehicles ( page 15) are not covered by the Mercedes-Benz Limited Warranty or by any pre-owned or Extended Limited warranties "

I've always been a sceptic on these sorts of things as to whether they actually make a difference, Its supposed to clean the fuel system as well as the cat (if you have one?) But it does seem to work though. My fuel economy improved by a couple of mpg and it has stayed that way so far - I put it in about 2000 miles ago. Have recommened it to other people who have had pleasing results too.

I just used the BG recently, the diesel one, have read good things about it on various car forums.

I bought my A160 three months ago, it's a petrol model. It was a little bit jittery, particularly after day or two of not driving it. After reading this forum I fed it a bottle of Redex - felt some improvement in performance (did not have enough data to compare mpg), now last week I switched to BP Ultimate and put a can of BG in: extremely pleased with the result - feels like a new car (I'm not a petrolhead enough to described it in correct terms :) - smooth, agile and no hesitation or slow pick up :bannana:

With the amount of driving I do, 7p a litre doesn't make any difference to me whatsoever, and I'm getting 46mpg consistently now on motorway trips, that's almost the listed (46.3) m/way mpg for this car, which I think is not bad, considering it's 10yrs old.

So from now on I'm sticking to BP Ultimate and BG every (whatever was recommended on the can, - need to check it) ...
