My friend C180, is havin a fuel indicator fault. 1st time happen when he drive the car until out of fuel, after he refuel the fuel indicator is absolutely stuck. any suggest before went to the stealer ??

Thanks

With my W202 C Class, if you over fill the tank (no, if you FILL the tank!) the guage sits at nil for 50 miles or so then moves upto the full position - then works correctly.

Cheers

Toni, u mean first i have to fill the tank untill full ? and drive for 50miles, and then fill again until full ? is that so

No, just drive a while and the gauge will correct itself...hopefully. Mine used to do it sometimes, if I filled it right to the top.

There were issues a while back with the tank sender corroding due to crap internal components.A new unit will no doubt rectify the problem,Try a search for "fuel sender" that will bring up a few threads.

I had the problem too, what it is, you have to stop fueling at th first click when at the pump. if you go over the floating sensor may get stuck somewhere in the tank line

sometimes the floats become gummed due to using supermarket fuel.
I had this before and read on another forum about using better fuels with detergents in to unstick the float.

try a few tankfulls of BP ultimate or shell optimax, it worked for me on my w124
