hello folks

i had a slight problem with my 53 reg c220cdi a few months ago. The car would start fine when cold and would even drive fine, but once i turned it off and tried to restart it, it wouldn't do anything. Also the engine would judder on idle, but was fine after 1.5k revs.

I was told by the local garage that it could be the injector seals. I replaced them together with the bolts and even had a full service done. The problem was still there though. :(

i took it this week to the local mercedes specialist and he told me that he was 90% sure it was the Fuel Pressure Release Valve and showed me where it was. He said that he could replace it for me for £290 including fitting, or if i could get the part myself, he would fit that for me too. To cut a long story short, i have tried to order it from GSF and Dronsfield, but they both asked for a part number. I asked the specialist whether he knew what it may be, but he didn't. Would anyone on here be able to help me or point me in the right direction please?

Give your local Mercedes dealer a call. I've recently managed to negotiate trade prices with mine making them pretty competitive. If nothing else they should be able to look up the part number. You could also join the official Mercedes Benz club as you get free access to the electronic parts catalogue so can look up part numbers however it takes a while for access details to come through. I could try and look it up for you if you pm your chassis number but I might struggle without knowing what the part I am looking for looks like.

thanks mate,

i'll get you the chassis number later today if i dont have any luck with the mb dealers. The car doesn't get used much nowadays, but it's good to have it all working properly when i do need it. :)

The part itself goes at at the end of the fuel rail. It's fitted to the end furthest away from you if you're stoid at the front of the car. I'll try and get a pic up for you too later today.

Thanks again.

I didn't manage to speak to mb, but i did find what looks like an oem replacement on ebay. It looks just like the image in the ad, but they call it a "Mercedes Common Rail Diesel Cdi Pressure Control Valve". Not sure if this'll be any good and they do say to make sure before i purchase it.

Here's a link to the ad:
Mercedes Common Rail Diesel Cdi Pressure Control Valve 6110780549 | eBay

Hopefully this should help show what it is i'm after.

That's the part you need.
Wonderparts is a member on here, Franey, so why not ask him to check for you.

Hello folks,

i thought i should update this thread. I managed to find the part that i needed, but i still have the same problem with my car :(

I took it to another mechanic, recommended by a friend. He managed to fix the starting problem, but the engine still judders on idle. This mechanic told me that i need a fuel injector with the following number: A6130700687 170103.

I have managed to find some online, but the mechanic insists that the last 6 digits (170103) are very important. He told me that they are important because the other injectors all have that same number at the end. Can anyone please clarify whether that is right?
