Hi all,

This is probably a stupid question but please bear with me. My car is an '08 W204 C220 CDi.
I have a "right dipped beam" message on the dash, I changed the bulb and still it will not work. I swapped the terminals on the bulb just in case I fitted it incorrectly and still no joy.
I have checked the fuse allocation chart I found in the boot and there is no mention of a dipped beam fuse.
Please can anybody advise me what to do next as I dont want to take the car into an MB garage to be charged an exhorbitant amount of money.

Thanks,
Geoff.

Doesn't seem to be a fuse for the headlamps on a W204- try the bulb in the other side to see if its a dud. Remember not to touch the glass when fitting.

Hi guys,

I changed the bulb for a known good one and still faulty.
Any ideas before I give in and go to MB?

Thanks,
Geoff.

Xenon or halogen?
Is there voltage in socket (in case of halogen)? Have you tried to reset the light control switch, between zero and on again (helped to reset W211 error message, bulb was ok and on so perhaps no help here :( )

Hi,

The bulbs are halogen.I have not got a multimeter with me at the moment to check the voltage, I'm assuming there isn't as I have tried a known working bulb.
I'll give the light switch a reset as suggested.

Thanks,
Geoff.

You could try re- seating [ give it a wiggle] the N10/1 unit [ like a large relay ] in the front SAM unit and check the associated fuses --- but without Star you might end up with more warning lights!

On my W203 when the front sidelights stopped working it was (unfortunately for my wallet) the front SAM unit that had failed. No fuses to replace just a £350 SAM unit.

Hi Bruce,

That is something I did not want to hear :-(

BR
Geoff.

It may not be that. But I messed about for ages looking for fuse but the fuse layout sheet just said "electronic" next to the sidelights.

My issue was very low voltage at the bulbs 2.3vdc. I finally admitted defeat and took it to an Indie who diagnosed it on STAR which showed that the front SAM was Kaput.

Maybe worth getting a meter on the bulb holder and checking for voltage. Remember on mine it was BOTH front bulbs so you may have a less expensive problem.

Good Luck.
