Garage caught thrashing a Monaro by Roadhawk

I'd have mentioned it to the proprietor of the garage concerned and enquired about the value of the compensation he ws going to pay you for the fuel, tyres, wear and tear etc and see what sort of figure he offered. I'd probably expect my bill to be waived too. Do I sound cruel or is that blackmail??? :D

I can imagine that a car hire company , specialising in renting out high performance/high value cars could see this as a way of safeguarding their property : rent a Porsche , Ferrari or whatever and the owners will know how you treated the car , then , if you want to hire another time , they can base their decision on the evidence .

I could imagine insurers of 'accident prone' or convicted drivers stipulating fitment of one of these devices : in the event of a claim , they simply review your driving and , if deemed irresponsible , your claim could be kicked out - of course , you'd sign up agreeing to these terms & conditions in order to get insurance .

Big brother is just around the corner .....

In America some cars have devices like this which are used by insurance companies to assess blame etc. I find it really spooky, the concept could be extended for example to a smokers house and CCTV be made to be put in every room in the event they dont stub out a fag properly and the place goes up in a blue light. A surveillence culture is not something to be embraced IMHO.

The garage concerned had a black clk 55 amg (w208) convertible for sale, and discussed on here a while back. I wonder how they checked it was road worthy!!!

Aren't those cars designed to be driven just like that?

Roadhawk is a great bit of kit used it in the past for driver training, the download and overlays are brilliant and not that expensive either compared to bullet cams and a hard drive or flash drive recorder

A comment from the youtube link:

"Whilst you're all getting excited and wanting to buy one... the government we be glad it further adds to the acceptance of cameras everywhere - and gives them another batch of eyes to tap into... and don't think they won't do it.

Save your money - and maybe a little bit of our freedom"
