Garage floor paint

I painted my garage a couple of years ago. Used white emulsion for the walls (brick and breezeblock), and painted the concrete floor with grey polyurethane garage floor paint.

Don't bother buying through the usual routes, massively overpriced for the domestic market ;)

I bought a large amount from a direct supplier, here:

That will be plenty to do all but the huuugest of garages, it will probably cover two or three single garages!

After 2 years there's still no problems, does take a good few days to properly 'cure' to make it really hard (I did paint in October/November time mind ;) )

Really helps keep everything clean and dust free, with bare concrete you notice the dust on everything!

Carpet will not be pleasant when damp surely?

I laid some kitchen floor lino in one garage, part out of laziness as as I otherwise had to dsipose of it and it couldn't take the weight of the car, going all squished where the wheels sat.
We have had the carpet there for several years, it gets vacuumed regularly and I have noticed somew staining where the front wheels are but it certainly doesn't pong!

In fact it allows me to lay on the floor and at least polish the lower half of our car and if the carpet ponged I would be the first to no----se  ;)

Mind you we don't have much rain and thankfully no fluid discharges:D :D

Regards
John

Hmm, shame I just threw a load of carpet out having told myself it would be daft to lay it in the garage! Doh

Carpet it great for garages as it regulates the temperature and humidity.

Mines our old bathroom carpet and has been down for about 8 years and well used....but no smells or dampness.

Same for the bathroom as it's now porcelain tiled...;) :D

The reason why the concrete is dusty is because it hasn't been sealed with a concrete hardener solution. This should be done after at least 28 days to allow effervescent salts to disperse.

Buy it from a builders merchants.

Thats the place I got mine for my last garage.
Much cheapness and did what it said on the tin

I found performance tyres tended to lift the paint, if one parked immediately after an "enthusiastic" drive! :)

Screed the floor (sometimes called self leveler), It will give you a nice level floor that is smooth enough to clean. It will take a while to fully harden, so leave your car outside for at least a couple of days.

Oh, I wish for a garage!!
