Hi, I need a new rear wheel bearing replacing and need a reputable garage in the manchester/altrincham area if anybody knows one.
Any ideas how much it will be as well?
Many thanks Kurt

Oh the car is a 1994 e220 estate.

Right, rang mastertech and spr autos and nearly fell off my chair with their prices, rang w124 works in Preston and with me supplying the wheel bearing it will be £150 so I will be booking it in there and having a ride up to Preston to have it done.

Mastertech was quoting £320 and SPR £300 both all in, rip off if you ask me.

say hello to Mr IBW for me, he's done some fine work on my car and comes highly recommended by me :thumb: but your OP said Manchester area :dk:

Yes but Preston's only up the road and he seems to know his w124's so bit of a no brainer really.

They do mechanical work too - mine's booked in next week for a B service and ATF/filter replacement. I know Ringway has had mechanical stuff done here too.

Not that I disagree with your choice - Mr Walker comes highly recommended on here!

You might be better off buying a used rear hub and fitting that.

You need a big press and someone who (really) knows what they are doing to fit 124 rear bearings.

Are you putting yourself forward for the job Phil????

Not a job for me, but just make sure wherever you take it really does know what they are doing.

A lot of guys on here speak very highly of the service they have had at W124 works, so if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I have done quite a few of these and have the tooling to do the job.
