Ok so heres the story... After I returned from driving to Berlin (where the top up oil next fuel light came on) i decided to send the car to a local garage for an oil change. They offered me a 25 point safety check i thought why not after the trip ...they told me..

Rear hoses were cracked... I've checked them and double checked them... They're not

They also said there is an 'Auto box leak'... I can't see anything anywhere... However im not overly confident I've checked it correctly... Could any one give me any tips on where to look (pics would be excellent)... I've never had any signs of leaking, just wanted to check if this is another piece of bull

Unless it's got to the point where it leaves spots on the drive, I wouldn't worry about it...

They were probably a bit short of work...

That's why I stay clear of those "Cheapest MOT" places....that cheap MOT couild turn into the most expensive one you've ever had!

Well I think you should have gone to a indy recommended on here not sure where you live but I would not take my merc to a local garage for even a oil change unless I knew they were good, you do not say how old the car is or what merc it is,on my W221 S320 CDI the difference between the full mark and fill on the dipstick is about 1.5 litres the engine holds 8.5 litres my car uses very little oil between services,so I have never seen the top up oil light or message, come back with where you live and I or somebody will point you to a local indy.

Yeah I don't think ill be worrying to much Paulg.. Couldn't agree more about using an indy now... I supplied the oil and filter so knew they were correct... Its near work so wanted convenience... Won't make that mistake again... Its due a service in a few months... Ill be taking it to prestige servicing in Stockton on Tees i think.. Unless anyone here says otherwise.. Lesson learned I think
