The W124 5 speed manual normally screws off. Turn in an anticlockwise direction and it should come off.

Hi, anyone know how to remove an auto gear knob from a W124 Coupe?? Tried unscrewing it, nearly broke my wrist!!!! Any ideas??

On a manual knob, pull back the gator (lift up and over knob) and you will see a locknut. Undo the locknut half a turn and *then* the whole thing unscrews.

The one on my Brabus W124 just screwed off. Maybe it was a different design.

Maybe it was missing the locknut
