Hi guys,

I have a Clk 320 (209). Last year, October, I had the the leaking gearbox oil seals replaced from a Mercedes Benz specialist.

However, today, I have just noticed that it is leaking from exactly the same part again.

Does anybody know whether this will be covered under some kind of parts warranty? Because it wasn't cheap!!!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Av

Firstly I would discuss this with the people who replaced the seals. Most Indies rely on good feedback and most probably would make some form of offer to maintain it. Did they offer a warranty on the repair?

Thanks, but im not sure, I will contact them this afternoon and discuss it with them.

I was wondering if in general Mercedes Benz parts do come with some kind of a warranty? I mean a month or so after they fitted them initially, they leaked again, but they replaced them with no charge. Since then they have been fine, until today when i noticed an oil patch on my driveway from exactly the same point!

Mercedes Edinburgh have just changed a faulty flasher-can bought in May. I was told (on friday) that all parts carry a 2year warranty. You would, of course, need the original receipt.

I have the original receipt. I thought there was some kind of parts warranty, just wasn't sure! I will discuss it with the garage and take it from there.

Thanks

The parts have a two year warranty. It maybe somthing else leaking though.

How much were they?

To be fair, the parts are not really that much, its the labour! I had the gearbox seals replaced (£290 all in) as well as the gearbox shaft selector seal (£295 all in) which was also leaking.

What else could be leaking from the gearbox?

hello.
the transmission conductorplate on w202, w208 and w210 used to leak.
but I dunno if it's the same with w209?
this leak used to be internally, you never notice the leak until the car is fu----!
ECU under the passengers footwell carpet drowns from oil and eventually breaks.
I had to change mine, it was leaking slowly.
best thing is to check it while servicing the car.

Another thing is the outer plastic plug on the right front side on the transmission, gearbox oil drips out very much from this plug.
good luck dude

Hey thanks. I will see what the garage says when they check it out sometime this week. And I will defo keep in mind what you have said regarding the conductor plate and the outer plastic plug.

Thanks for your help mate!

yes mercedes parts do cover a 2 year warranty but what seals did you get fitted in you gearbox in the bell housing or at the prop shaft or the side electric plug ?????

Im not exactly sure myself, but I was told the gearbox sump and electrical seals were leaking heavily when my car was in service last year, so they were replaced.

this job isnt very big the indy who carried out the work should fix it i would if it is leaking out of the same place

Hi, thanks for your reply! It actually isn't a gearbox leak. I have been told it is condensated water from the a/c unit which is dripping
