I had some work done for the MOT yesterday which it passed and I was putting the paper work away in the file so I thought I'd have a quick look through the invoices I have for the car, there's one dating from last July (before I bought the car) for a new MAF the part price is listed as £155....would this be a genuine MB MAF unit for this price or a cheapy aftermarket one? Seems a bit cheap to me knowing MB part prices.

That is quite cheap. Check the sensor for Bosch part numbers.

Am I being daft? Mine's an M104 and doesn't have a MAF in terms of more modern cars - it's got a plunger system in the inlet manifold which relates to air flow and a small electric flow device on the side of the air intake.

Am I right or are we terming the plunger as a MAF?

No.

Your car uses the KE-Jetronic mechanical system, later ones use the Motronic electronic system.
