Getting black plastic parts from grey to black?

The door handles, windscreen wiper and to some extent the bumpers on my car are getting old and grey, which looks bad with my shiny new metallic black paintwork. Could anyone recommend a method of restoring these black plastic parts back to their original blackness?

Thanks

belive it or not - engine oil...

plastic is just based on mineral oil - and will absorb oil.....

worked brilliantly on some old vauxhalls of mine.

or a propriatry back to black stuff from halfords (which might not smell as much ;) )

Mer exterior plastic cleaner. It works well, is dry to the touch and lasts well.

Don't laugh but I'm shure someone said use peanut butter

Personally I'd rather spread it on a bit of toast than my car :)

I've heard of Peanut Butter for this too!! Would go for the smooth rather than crunchy and not a low fat one :D But whether it need be Sunpat who knows :D

Marmite ??

(Well at least its the right colour . . . and there must be some use for the stuff ;))

Autoglym Bumper Car or Kiwi Black shoe polish

The best stuff I have found for this is "Autoglym Bumper Care" its a sort of green gel I use it on any black rubber or plastic. It cleans out polish stains and other stuff and restores it to the original colour.

I once used Kiwi black shoe polish on one bumper this also worked really well and lasted ages. Just treat it like a shoe brush it on and then leave it and brush it off!

Simoniz Bumper Black does the trick and will cover up minor scuffs as well.

I have got to say that I would not like to be parked up next to you lot on a hot day: the fragrant whiff of rancid peanut butter, old engine oil & shoe polish!

wd40 removes the polish from the plastic mouldings

Wonder wheels tyre dressing.
Looks like watery milk, superb for the tyres using the sponge or on plastics with the supplied cloths
Lasts for ages and you can have it matt or shiny

Bazza

decided to set about my dull plastic this pm used some (crisp n dry) veg oil nice and clean from the bottle, neighbours thought i was mad until they saw the finishing result, and what a result car looks years younger, even worked on my vw van bumpers.
let it soak in a bit and wipe of excess, easy job, even works on the door seals etc.
