I hope this is in the right section, apologies if it’s not.

I’ve just filled up the GLC this morning for the first time, there was 40 mile remaining in the tank. Diesel was £1.55/ltr and to my surprise it only held 42ltrs at a cost of about £65. Currently says 329 mile, this seems very low? I’ve read the tank should be 66ltrs? I’ve had the car in eco driving mode all week.

It’s 2.2 AMG 2017.

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Mine is a 2016 and takes around 60 litres currently costing around £90 to fill up. Range normally says low 500 mile range.

Thanks, that’s what I was expecting.

I definitely filled it up, the gauge is showing max and the pump clicked, I was surprised when it stopped at £65, I was expecting like you said £90+.

Any reason why the tank would only hold 42ltrs? Is that specific on this model?

A quick Google throws up a post on a GLC forum which suggests 50 litre tank is standard, with the option of a 60 litre tank.

I would expect the reserve to be 8-10 litres, so if you filled with 42 litres it suggests that you have the standard 50 litre tank.

The AMG version really ought to have a larger tank. I can’t imagine 50 litres lasts long when exploiting the performance.

Thanks. I saw that post.

I guess £65 tank with 320 miles is kinda equal to £90 tank and 500 miles but it just means I’ll be filling up a lot more and hate filling up.

Is there anywhere to confirm what tank size I have?

Does it mention it in your manual?

Alternatively if you post your VIN number then some members can check the spec of your specific car 👍🏻

I had a check on Parker’s by entering my reg and it says 50Ltrs, but it also says a range of 517 which is a lot more than the 320 I’m currently seeing. Maybe I just need to drive the car until empty and see what the true reading is. I filled up with 42 ltrs today but it only had 40 mile left, I don’t know if 40 mile = 8 litres

The range of 320 miles would be based upon the type of driving you had done most recently. For example if the last 10-20 miles had been stop-start city driving following a cold start in winter, then the projected range would be much less than it would be if you had you just refilled on an autoroute having been cruising at 65 mph for several hours on a warm spring day.

Thank you.

517 miles on a 50 litre tank implies an AVERAGE of 47 mpg.

320 miles on a 50 litre tank implies an AVERAGE of 29 mpg.

If you reset your trip computer next time you refill (to the brim), use almost of the tank (until warning light illuminates) and when you refill again check the average fuel consumption since last reset then you’ll know your own real world average at this time of year.

Thanks again.

I reset the trip this morning and this is the readings. Mainly town driving and down some country lanes in Eco mode (I assume this is the best mode for fuel savings). Average speed is probably 40mph. The fuel gauge has already went down a notch.

Average over the whole tank will be more indicative but if you managed to maintain 31.0 mpg over the whole tank then your range would be 341 miles, (assuming you used every drop, which you wouldn’t). Therefore the 320 miles range you reported earlier sounds about right.

In this case doesn't the AMG tag refer to a styling and possibly a wheels /suspension package and not an AMG engine?
