Hi guys and girls

Got a problem hope somebody out there can help

My c220d glow plug light has been acting up lately when i switch the ignition on when it`s cold the light doesnt come on i start the car and it starts eventually it runs on two cylinders then picks up and runs ok after a few minutes running the glow plug lights up and stays on for a few minutes then it goes out .

Dont know if the car will start if theres a frost

Is there a relay or something that switches on the glow plugs that i can test or change will disconnecting the battery reset the relay .

I am at a loss with this problem hope somebody out there can help cheers

The glowplugs are switched by a control relay mounted on the inner wing. This control unit is switched by the engine ECU using the temperature sensor to dictate the requirement.

Try disconnecting teh glow plug relay unit and the ECU and then reconnecting them.
Also check the glowplugs with a meter to check they are working.

Ok you have two glowplugs out, replace and light will stop.

fitted 4 new glow plugs £7 each from Brown Bros car is perfect now thanks all
