C220 CDI
Hello Everyone,

I have a C220 CDI 2004 with a 130k on the clock.

Ignition on, glow plug warning light indicates, goes out and car starts, as it should. However, a few seconds later the glow plug warning light comes back on and remains illuminated until the 30 second timer cuts in.

Occasionally the glow plug light will also illuminate when the car is being driven and again remain illuminated until the 30 second cut off timer swiches the light off.

Questions.

Is there any other glow-plug control other than the relay situated on the rhs looking into the engine compartment from the front?

Is there a link to download circuit diagram, specific to the glow-plug circuitry?

Has anyone seen and solved a similar problem?

Thanks in advance.

Malcolm.

When the glow plug light on my W169 stayed on after it has started, a Star diagnostic showed that glow plug 1 was reported with an open circuit fault.

When my 270 did this it was a glow plug gone

Or unplug the connector of the relay module and measure resistance of the each plug wire. Usually pinpoints faulty plug. Cylinder numbers are inside the module connector.

Thanks to all who replied.

It is indeed a glow plug that is at fault, so all four will now be replaced and also the relay if necessary.

Malcolm.
