GMP to target motorists using smart car fleet?

We have them on the Wirral now - white smart, big mast, terrified driver

I would support it totally if there was no money or fines collected.
that kind of messes up the credibility

your other half is in the right by parking there after 6pm. Clearly states that the disabled parking restrictions are lifted after 6pm.

Good luck with the appeal!

I would make sure the bay you are talking about does not have seperate parking restrictions.

Those signs are informing folks of restrictions in that designated area, but are the bays in a seperate location or have seperate markings?

Could I ask for a consensus of opinion, at the risk of a slight hijack? It's stealth related, and in the same vain of cynical revenue generation. How would you interpret this parking sign? My other half believed restictions of any sort ceased after 6pm, but she got a ticket for parking in the disabled side at 7.45pm (just finshed writing the appeal).

Was the vehicle booked via a Penalty Charge Notice? If so, what's the contravention code number?

There are three continuous bays on that side of the road, and the signage is as you see. The disabled* bay to the left (shown by the arrows) accommodates 4 cars, then nine cars to the right, then another disabled bay to the right again, for another four cars. *As posted before, the "disabled" bays do have DISABLED painted in white on the road side of the bay markings, and the fact that I am referring to them as "disabled" bays gives me a sense of (her) being had. But why show time periods from 8-6??

Robert, it was code 40.

Thanks to other replies, and sorry to the OP if this is a hijack, but who else is fed up with being a soft target?:wallbash:

Yep, perfect for an informal challenge, if it's as you say it is. The restriction ends post-6pm.

Take it all the way to Tribunal, they would love to see those signs, which are barely legal being so old (forget the fact they are incongruous, that's the signage regulations being a PITA). Which part of the country is this, out of interest?

Thanks again Robert, very useful site. Ticket issued in Bournemouth. I'll post the outcome here.

Maybe that's why the parking officer didn't understand them..;)

Possibly true!

This gives a vague idea of what is current (only in general as an example for this thread; other types exist, as you can imagine):

And the variants permitted (for the disabled sign 661A) include:

# 11

An arrow may be added to the sign, pointing to the left or to the right as appropriate

# 38

(1) References to a time limit, the time of day, the day of the week, the month of the year, or the year may be added, varied or omitted as appropriate. References to bank or public holidays may be included

(2) Where a diagram in column (2) is marked with an asterisk the time of the day may be expressed by the phrase "At any time" or "at any time", as appropriate. Where such a phrase is shown in the diagram, this may be varied to any other time of day

#39

(1) A symbol, logo, number, letter or letters (capitals, lower case or both), or name identifying a parking zone or parking permit identification may be added or varied as appropriate

(2) The size of the code letter or letters and the code letter patch may be varied and may be in any contrasting colours

(3) The name of the traffic authority may be added

All rather dull really :p

I have received a letter today advising of a cancellation.:thumb: However, based on the reply, the Council seems happy with the signage, as described in my previous description here. The area concerned is frequently targeted by 'flying' teams of wardens in vans, and must be a bit of a honeypot for the Council. I wonder if it deliberately takes advantage of the ambiguity?
