I'm going to look at an E55 AMG tomorrow (2004), anything worth looking out for?

lol, yep, press every button, especially the one that makes it go.

is the supercharger something to worry about? any tips on what to look out for? Its the engine and supercharger which are my main concern. If its a 2004 and covered 36k miles what services should it have had? when would the next one be?

36k is nothing on an engine like that. My lowly C200K is also 2004, but has done nearly 58k and its still as fresh as a daisy.
Its hardly run-in.
Check the service book and on a car like that I would really want to see FULL MBSH. Anything less would trigger alarm bells.

Great cars,

Just make sure everything works, check the stamps, even ring up the garage it was last serviced at to have a chat.

Usual check of tyres, bodywork etc

If you really like it try not to show it...say you have two others to look at etc etc. Bargain hard its your deal (unless your PX your current car?)

Have you driven one before?

Will be interesting to hear what you think after the CDi, I was amazed how quick the speedo goes round. Real licence losing stuff.

The engine and supercharger at that mileage should be the least of your concern.

Those supercharged engines are reinforced for the extra stress (all-aluminium blocks) and MB have made every effort to make sure that they are very durable engines.

Just make sure all the electrics work!

never driven a 55 before, will be PX'ing the CDI if I go for it.

Ha Ha !!

You're in for a treat then ....

I saw a 430 like yours going down my street last week Howard, I could hear it from some distance!

Are 04 211s galvanised? I don't think so, so that's something else to look for. The early 211s seem to have a fair few troubles - electrical mainly.

Oh dear .... :o

I came back from Woking a couple of weeks back , and got lost in Chertsey .. wonder if that was me ?

i thought it was 2003 they started galvanising. This one is a late 2004.

I also thought 2003 for galvanising - based on build date of course, rather than registration.
