Going to look at this on Saturday - W210 E55

Quote "I dont `need` the car so dont have to buy it, I can just wait for the right one to turn up........."

I would wait then....

The right one will turn up :)

it was in the bumper, there was 1 bubble at the front in the metalwork, I would personally choose to ignore MB as I know a good sprayer, its what I did on the last E55 and was a lot less grief, also because I had the car less than 6 months MB wouldn`t entertain touching it

He has dropped the price to 8k for it, there is the last few years of bills, fully stamped book, mint paintwork apart from a few tiny paintchips in the front, everything working etc, what do the assembled masses think now, im a bit more tempted now were as I wasnt so bothered before

If you're happy about the service history and have a satisfactory answer to the items listed in my first post (bearing in mind it's seven years old so everything is going to be fairly worn) and have gone through the car with a mechanically-minded friend, personally I would be prepared to go for it. Especially, as you (and I) have owned one before so know how it should handle and perform. But do check all the controls and electrics, including the variable damper switch and ESP, climate control, COMAND, window lifters, sunroof etc etc. Little troubles can cost a lot to fix. Have a look at the emissions printout that comes with the MOT certificate and if there isn't one to hand, insist on a new MOT and printout!

Birdman, I was happy with the history, book fully stamped but no reciepts for it, the car felt like a fully serviced and well cared for car, I was happy with it, everything worked, the paint was in excellent nic apart from the tiny flaws mentioned, I even went underneath it and checked the engine skid plate and that wasnt that rusty! I pulled hard away from the lights and it went like it should - like a train, I pushed it round some corners with ADC on and off and it felt even tighter, the seats moved, heated and the ortho part worked, it even had like my old one heated rear seats, it had everything you can get in a W210! The emissions print out was near or on the minimum, she was in good spec, as you read this your probably thinking about the but, the but came when I spoke to the insurance company, as the policy started on the SEC it is set up for old classics not new high performance cars, it is worth me letting the policy run out in April and then looking for one as it will be very expensive in the mean time just to own it, its simply the wrong insurance stats, no worries, then I get another years no claims, I will be a year older and 3 points would have fallen off my license, so I shall pick this up again in March, if that car is still there then good I shall pick it up, (for a lot less if it hasnt sold!!) otherwise I shall get another 1,

so to wrap up if you want a full spec, black with black leather E55 thats in very good nic its in Maidenhead so go get it!!!

thanks for watching and be sure to tune into another exciting episode of what car will W210 fan get next!!!!!!

LOL!
Sorry to hear the insurer put the kibosh on it. Move to silly Suffolk - it's cheaper out here.
So pick up the story in March, OK, and remember everybody, E55's rock, so don't go chasing those pretenders:)
