Just picked the E55 up from its annual MOT. It failed:(

2 Fronts tyres badly worn on the inside edges which cannot be seen unless on full lock.
Going to Protyre in a few minutes to have 2x 245x40x18 Goodyear F1's fitted which I haven't used before but get great reviews. Roughly the same price as the usual suspects once fitted............£113 each.

I cannot fault the Falken ZE914's currently fitted as the tyre wear must be down to steering alignment which I'll get checked. It's certainly not normal wear as I have around 5 -6mm across the tread.
Now its time to try a new brand and see how they fare, especially when its wet. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Could it be because of your lowering links?

Could it be because of your lowering links?

Quite possibly John. There does seem to be a lot of camber that must be wearing the tyres.

I may raise the front a little tomorrow.

Just a thought really.

I was just thinking back - I never got any uneven tyre wear with mine (I used to get it aligned at Wheels in Motion in Bucks) but I never altered the ride-height.

I've always wondered if the car needs re-alignment after lowering so the wheels track correctly as I've not lowered a car since a long time ago!

A shortish time ago I had to replace the front Pirelli PZero tyres on my Audi and I opted for the GY Eagle F1 AS3's whilst keeping the Pirelli's on the back. There is noticeably less road noise from the front now that the tyres have worn in.

^ Very positive thoughts about these tyres after just a few miles, albeit dry sunny conditions.
A lot of feeling in the steering, cornering at a decent lick:thumb:

Love the Goodyears on my CLS55. Very quiet, very comfortable and plenty of grip. Dunlop Max RT would be my second choice as they are very similar in ratings.

I had bad experiences with Goodyears. My fronts started to crack on the outer edge in May 2019. They have been on the car for a few years but I drive less than 4k per year.

My cousin also had a full set started to crack on the outer edges 2-3 years ago. One of the tyres ended up not holding air pressure in the end. Brand new set which lasted less than 1 year.

Michelin all the way now.

I had them put on all round...great tyre at a great price...mine were done at Protyre Isle of Wight

Have F1 Asymmetric 3 all round on the E320 CDi

As you are finding, it is a quiet tyre with good feedback, good dry grip and, for me, good wear so far as about half worn on the rear after 14,000 miles. Wet grip is also reassuring.

With the Goodyears that's probably a UV light storage issue - sunny side up on a slow boat .

I've the same issue with some Chinese budgets on my other car .

Loads of this particular tyre about and I've yet to see the issue repeated or with 16 of them in the family .

I just got unlucky , could happen to any tyre if stored incorrectly .

I do smile at a local mot station / mechanic / Tyre agent has them upstairs staring out of windows in full sun all day .

OK if ordered in but if from existing stock..

Brilliantly tyre, got them on all our cars bar the C63 which wears horribly noisy PSS.

I suspect the camber is the issue with tyre wear. Raise it a bit and it will wear more evenly and be more compliant also.

Fitted some a month or so ago replacing previous Contisports which I've used before, Goodyears are quieter!

Got them on the SL and really pleased. Night and day better than the P Zeros they replaced. Much better handling especially in the wet and wearing better as well.

Had them on the wifes 535d. Great tyres.

Sent from my awesome Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Fun times...
