After years of dreaming about owning an AMG have somewhat to my surprise managed to get one!

My Merc of choice for the last few years has been an 08 CLS 320 which has been totally fantastic (and is now waiting on a forecourt for some lucky fella!) but I always hankered after an AMG.

Having watched the price steadily come down for a while, I saw one which was exactly what I wanted. So flogged the Boxster which I wasn't using much, traded in the oil burner, threw caution to the wind - and got it. It is what appears to be a rare W219 facelift 08 as most CLS 63's seem to be pre-facelift. According to 'how many left' there are only 127 CLS AMG 63's (W219) in the UK in total and the majority purchased prior to the admittedly very minor facelift (rear lights, front grill, Command). It also has the performance package, so I can do 186mph when the need arises! (also has larger brakes, sports steering wheel, AMG wheels, LSD and AMG tuned suspension whatever that means!) Am totally blown away by the performance and sound - which is especially addictive. Have taken to driving round with the rear windows down to enjoy the sound track. The power is of course totally unusable in most situations, but just occasionally you can give it a prod and the warp speed kicks in. I love how understated it is and totally docile in Comfort mode for pottering about - but you always know the beast within is lurking. The dynamic seats are quite a revelation, not having driven a Merc with them before and they really do keep you in place when you are cornering.

So all in all and a very happy bunny and can't quite believe I have such a dream machine. I intend to hang onto it for a while and quite intrigued as to whether they will keep dropping in price or if they will bottom out and start to hold their price as the last example of the AMG naturally aspirated engine (I think...?) but just enjoying for the time being. :bannana::bannana:

cheers!

Congratulations :thumb:

Sounds like the car has a good spec. The dynamic multi-contour seats are great, aren't they?

That's a stunning car. Would be fantastic if you could record the engine sound for us somehow one day!

Lucky boy, out of interest, how much are these exotic beats now?
PM me if you like.
Thanks, C.

lovely

more pics please

have taken some pics, though weather not nice and also car not that clean - but gave me an excuse to nip out in it :)

Very nice :)

Just looked at one yesterday, loved the car but with no documentation, it wasn't going to happen :(

With only 127 here might take a while I guess :))

Don't know why the 63 was so much less popular new than the 55 given the 63 was in production for so much longer, over 400 55s came to the UK in that short time. Maybe the new E class hurt sales.

Enjoy :)

What is the engine in this one?
6.3?
5.5?
Turbo or naturally aspirated?

6208cc naturally aspirated.

One of the best V8's ever made :thumb:.

love the wheels.

could you take a pic of the car's side profile, would like to see how the wheels look when looking at them straight on

Am surprised someone can not have any documentation as the service history is electronic - even Indies are plugged into the system now if they want. But best avoided if not looking good. Are a handful on Autotrader that look good?

Will snap a pic when I have a chance, cheers

Congrats! I also think the wheels look good :)

Its a year to the day that I got my AMG W219, still makes me start laughing when I floor it, you won't get bored of it :)
