Hi

I went to use my GPS navigation last night and it seems to be giving my location as in the middle of the Bristol Channel. I was sat in my drive at home in South Devon at the time.

Anyway I thought I would see what happened when I drove with it on, I had to go to Bristol Airport and as I started driving it seemed to be telling me I was going in the opposite direction. It was giving me traffic info for Barnstaple, when I was nowhere near there.

Does anyone know what could be the cause, I am using the Comand APS NTG 2.5.

I have attached some pics to show you what I am seeing.

Just an update.

I have gone into "engineering mode and produced a video of what I found it can be viewed here: My Comand NTG 2.5 in engineering mode.

Also the attached picture shows the antenna on the roof, is this the GPS antenna?

What I don't understand is if it is the antenna that is faulty, why does it show about 10 satelights when I check system, although it says that there is a fault between the unit and the antenna I think.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

Derek

Thanks for your reply,

I took the sd card out, still the same.

In compass mode it shows zero satelites, in engineering mode it shows 12 satelites, weard.

Cheers

hard reset - pull the fuse for 10mins?

The antenna on the roof is not GPS I don't think ? When I upgraded my head unit the antenna on mine was telephone only.

Try one of these SAT NAV GPS AERIAL ANTENNA WIRE LEAD FAKRA RANGE ROVER BMW VAUXHALL MERCEDES | eBay

Route it through the parcel shelf and stick it on the rear window , try it first though before going ahead.

The antenna on the roof is for satnav.

Hi

Have you had the same fault and did it fix it for you? Also where is the connection for the new one to attach to if you know please?

Cheers

Its in the back of the dvd drive in the boot.

Yes me and many others have replaced it and fixed this error.

Thanks for your reply.

There is no DVD drive in the boot, I believe the head unit holds everything, its a CLS with a NTG 2.5 head unit and i'm hoping that the cable has a join somewhere in the rear so I dont have to run the cable from the rear to the front or maybe I can just remove the head unit, replace the GPS antenna and let it rest just under the dash somewhere?

Cheers

I'd still have a look on the left side of the boot for a flap of some kind . There's more than just the dvd drive placed there. It may be behind the boot liner left side. Look for the blue fackra connection.

@OneForTheRoad The CLS 2008 facelift with NTG2.5 has everything in the headunit, including the DVD drive for loading new SATNAV. Nothing in the boot. Ask me how I know.

Yes thats what I thought, so does the antenna lead plug straight into the head unit? In which case as long as I get a new antenna with the right connector it can rest on top of the head unit under the dash somewhere maybe?

Go on then, how do you know?

Cheers

@derekpayne see my sig ;)

This will help post 3

My 219 did exactly the same. Almost certainly the gps antenna. call command on line. They replaced mine in an hour
