The Mrs' W203 Coupe 2006 model brakes seem to grind just as you come to a halt but when checking the pads looking through the gaps in alloys they dont seem to look too bad, any ideas......All welcome....!!

When you say you have checked the pads have you looked at both the inside an outside one as the inside pad tends to wear quicker than the outside

I only looked at the outside ones through the wheels but yes i need to check the inside pads, the outside fronts seem ok so cant see the inside being that much worse but the rears could be the problem....

you will be surprised i have had cars where the outside pad looks fine but the inside is dwn to the metal

Recently changed the rear pads on my E300TD.
Outer pads showed very little wear.
Inner ones completely worn out.

In theory your front brake wear indicators should be lit up like a Christmas tree if things have got this bad. The sensor connection is usually on the inside pad on sliding callipers.
Does your brake wear light come on when you first switch on the ignition and then go out? Warning light bulb might be out I suppose?

or are we talking about the rear pads??????

I was wondering the same thing but wasnt sure which pad had the sensor, based on that i suspect its the rear pads then, unless of course the light is out, i will check that too.....:wallbash:

I think that the wear pad sensor is only on one pad and not both, which is why it can cause problems
