Ok, my C43 went in for its 45,000 service yesterday. Full maintainence servce, (that a B service? always get mixed up) anyway, the big one! Also replacing all 16 spark plugs, fuel filter, coolant and brake fluid.

It's at Haynes Merc specialist in Worthing, who are only very slightly cheaper that a stealership..

At least they're getting lower! :D

B service should be about £500 including coolant and brake fluids, maybe £700 including sparks.

I'd say nearer £800 with the fluid change as well etc.

I was quoted for the coolant and brake fluid change in addition to a B service only last week, from the stealership it's 122.74 more, the B service was £356.94 for a 4-cyl, will obviously be a little more for the V8.

I'm just waiting for the call to say this, that and the other need doing aswell... I know my rear diff is seaping a little, but doesn't seem too bad, couldn't really get a strong smell of diff oil or anything (smelling up close). It seems to be the seal on the very bottom, running from front to back. Is that the seal that needs the whole rear end off for changing? Any cost ideas, or should I not worry about it too much?

Mercedes London are offering 20% labour discount and 10% parts discount for cars more than 3 years old.

Steve, the 'resident' mechanic (at least for those in Kent and East London) could do your diff seals for you.

My B service with just plugs was £716 so yours has got to be £950ish

Lol just got a quote for tyre fitting by the stealership, for self-supplied tyres they charge 15 minutes per tyre, plus valves and weights.

£112

I think I'll get it done by a local place who just quoted £5 per wheel! :)

Mercedes charge about £700/£750 for that job. Steve charges £200/£250 ish...had mine done last weekend!

Job done.

"That call" just came in as predicted.. They've picked up on the following problems:

Rear Exhaust Mounting is very rusty. - Personally not too worried, I'm gonna have the rust looked at as a whole.

edit: This car did live in Scotland for 6years so i guess its used to the wet! :D

Centre Exhaust box has a small 1" hairline fracture. - Not a problem atm, but will only get worse I suppose. I'm told the centre box can be replaced on its own, awaiting a price on this.... Strong liquor on standby..

Front swivel joints. - Offside has very slight play in it, the nearside is worn, possible MOT failure. I was surprised as it's only done 45,000miles, but housemate mechanic says he's changed the same thing on BMW's at 20,000miles! lol They quoted around £70+VAT each to fit.

Rear Diff - The leaking only appears to be from the pinion seal, which means the diff can just be dropped down a bit to change it. They've topped up the diff with 1/2litre of oil (that a lot?), but as they don't know how long it has been leaking, they can't say how bad the leak is... They quoted £140 +VAT to fit a new seal.

The wiper problem: The in-out action is driven by gears that have worn, replacement is my only option. Parts are £286.60+VAT and at least an hour to fit, so looking around £407+VAT fitted :(

Picking her up tomorrow afternoon, results of the price competition to follow :D
