I removed my Pogo Alert from my previous CLK and want to put it in my 55, when i wired it into the 500 I found a positive feed from an old phone kit that had been installed and used that... On the 55 I have nothing, I'm unsure if I can just tap into a live that I find... I dont want to upset any of the electronics.....

Help.....

Greg,

Where does the unit need to be sited?

I'm thinking that I would take a feed off the accessory (ciggy lighter) socket in the ashtray - ahem, cubby.

I will put it to the right of the wheel in the corner by the pillar.... All i dont want to do is have to take the dash apart just to get a live feed. Surely If I drop the trim under the steering wheel I can find something there cant I.... How do I get to the back of the ciggy lighter on a W209?

That'll be cool actually.

If you lift off your shift boot, surround and take out the tray (to wire to it), you may find a path from there to the under steering cable tray and get to where you need.

I can't remember whether the the path is clear without lifting off the air controls, but they are removable with a Torx 20 drive :)

If still no go, worst case is taking out your head unit and that would only take another 15 minutes.

Fear not about the job, MB did a damn fine job on the centre console and it goes back together without a hint (by sight or creaks) that you have ever been there :D

If you drop the under dash panel, drivers side, below your steering wheel you'll be able to take a feed straight through the bulkhead to the fusebox and easily up to the top of the dash.

The route to the cig lighter is also very simple but i'd take it to the fuse box personally.
