Has anybody got/used this dashcam???

It's a marmite device people love it or hate it

Personally I think it is well over priced for less money I fitted bullet cams front and rear to an ssd processor/recorder that also has speed inputs, g measurement and gps inputs giving you everything you need. It's a bit of a cheap scaled down version of the system the police use on their traffic cars, had a lot of help from an electronic whizz though but most of the parts came from Maplins

What bullet cams did you use, last time I bought batch for work they cost over £500 each without a lens!

Can't remember it was 4 years ago but I'll check see if there is a brand on the cams but IIRC cams were about £35. The ones i had mounted to the roll cage in my race cars were Sony HD and they were only £90 each think they were from Demon Tweaks or one of the big Motorsport suppliers

i have 2 of these
i haven't seen a better dashcam than CR500HD

i can sell you one of mine, it's brand new in box

this is what it looks like

Blimey thats HUGE! Cams I used were literally lipstick size, and a smaller version was less than the diameter of Biro.....heres a a lens for one of them.

Really want something front and rear. I did look at the black view 550 but there wasn't much difference in price so looking at the 650 don't really want one with a screen in it so it's more discreet. Can anybody recommend any others ?? But has to have a seperate rear camera

That sort of size sounds good but what do you record them on? I was also thinking of using a hard drive mounted in the boot to record and then also set it up to 'ping' my location if required, but the time you add this n that then it would be easier to buy a mini pc

Alternative to Blackvue is the Mi-Witness Mi Witness HD Driver Special - Limited Offer

Front & rear kit includes wifi so you can view on your smart phone. Hardrive is built into front camera so no need to worry about external drives . Get a 32gb+ sd card for your data storage & happy days .

The difference between the Blackvue 550 & 650 is mainly a model change & the 650 has a better lens .

hope this helps.

And the 650 takes a 64Gb card

Yes Paul Blackvue 650 can but you will need to format the card a certain way/program ..which Blackvue would give you instructions on 'how to' .

Also note does your car have Dab - If so ,Blackvue are nortorious causing radio interference with there front to rear camera cable .. known problem ..( you can google its all over the web ) .

Imo - the 32gb is sufficient in any camera as you only need it when you have captured an incident . Besides you can always have a backup sd card to swap over too .

I'd be interested in the make if you can remember, thanks.

In not at home at the moment and won't be back until next weekend but will try and get SWMBO to look and let you know

In answer to Paul73mt question the cameras record on a processor ssd located in the false boot floor of the V70 picked up power from the feed to the boot 12v socket, box also had built in g sensor and speed and position recorded by GPS feed from shark fin ariel on roof

I'll be pulling it out shortly as selling the Volvo so hope the refit to the new car is as easy :-)

No worries, I can wait......wouldn't want the other half to be crawling around in the cold trying to read half obliterated printing on a tiddly camera, I can do without that hassle! :D

Hi I thinking of buying this ,has anybody got or used one or would anybody be interested in one as they do discounts for car clubs

Blackvue Vehicle Cameras : DR650GW 2HD (with GPS and WiFi)

I have one hard wired in the C63. It's a very good dashcam you can down load video to your mobile phone or ipad without taking out the sd card which is handy :thumb: Since it has been fitted I rarely notice it there unless a incident happens. Can post pictures if you like.

Yes pls if you dont mind :)

well took the gamble and bought the 650 with the 64Gb card and Power Magic Pro for £290 but to make it easy for me does anybody know, can pick up a ING Live , Batt Live and ground behind the glove box or should I put it in the boot across the battery and pick up a ING live on the rear sam unit as I think I may need a longer power cable if doing it the latter way.

Thanks

Paul

Are you sure you want an IGN live and not a PERM live seeing as you have a Power Magic Pro? I am thinking of the unit activating whilst unattended and recording incidents.
