Has anyone ever had a n/a 5.5 V8 remapped?

Just idly wondering about getting a DMS remap on my 2010 S212 E500. It's got the n/a 5.5. Has anyone remapped a 5.5?

DMS say they add 30-odd horses and torques. And they'll probably say the remap improves throttle response (not that it needs it) and mpg (bonus).

The insurance company may or may not like the idea.

Just wondering if it's worth it.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure that it's worth it.

Diesels respond well to a remap and, most likely, turbo petrols. I doubt that an additional 30 bhp would make a significant relative difference.

I'd be amazed if you noticed the difference to be honest.

Certainly not value for money IMO.

Mine has the M113 n/a V8 and as I understand it very little will be gained by re map of this engine. Ported heads, Hi Flow manifold, modified exhaust and upgrade on the intake will work. Like you said, you were 'idly wondering' a bit like I was when I decided not to bother with a re map or any other modifications and just enjoy the engine the way it is. :thumb:

A lot depends on where the additional power is delivered. An extra 30hp at the top-end will make little or no difference to your day unless you're full-chat on the track. An additional 30Nm at the bottom end would be nice, but you'd soon get used to any benefit. As for improved fuel economy; driver's right foot makes way more difference than any remap. One can have more power or better fuel economy not both.

That's not how these products are marketed.
I know...

I remember that there was a time when someone was selling a product for improved throttle response. Turned out to be a simple case of fitting a weaker spring on the butterfly return.

I paid strong money to have my previous w209 CLK55 re-mapped.
Could not feel any difference at all.
It never went on the rolling road so I don’t know if if did actually gain anything.
I might get the 6.2 done if I keep it, as I’m told these do respond better to it.

Sprint booster or some such snake oil.

I had my CLK55 done, gained a few horses that I think it had already lost over the years (25) but honestly didn't feel it. The biggest waist are the air filters which I had dyno'd before and after, 4BHP was all they added!

I looked in to it but decided against as seemed a generic map and no details for where the gains were and torque map difference.
