Hi,
I am going to France for a week in June in my C220 CDI estate and I see that MB recommend visiting the dealer to have headlights reset. Is it worth the bother as I could do what I have always done in past with deflector tape-- -no yellow tints though :0)
Stuart.

Models 203,209,211,215,220,230 with code 614 Bi xenon headlamp unit.

209 with code 615 Bi xenon unit with intergrated curve illumination.

230 with code 612 Xenon headlamp unit.

211,220 with headlamps with projection system(halogen lamps)

The lever is by the red and green cable on the left and shown for a 129

All can be adjusted with the lever

Brian if I can send you a file, can you find a way of taking the pictures off and including them on the post above,, this would be a good sticky but the whole document cannot be shown

Thanks for the heads up on adjuster. Will check it out - - -and hopefully not screw it up:crazy:
Stuart.

Mine is 617, xenon headlight asymmetric, left driving traffic

Can this be adjusted by the dealer or do I have to fit those bits of sticky tape?

Make sure you turn off the auto-lights - the MB mechanic who did mine said it can fry you! Helps if you have small hands as space is limited on the offside

I had this done at the dealer on my C class - they did it FOC when I popped in. I believe the lever can be a bit fragile and I'd hate the cost of replacing!

BTW - anybody done this on the W211? I looked and there appeared to be NO ROOM at all to gets one's hand in  Unless someone knows differently?

Only works on Bi-Xenons I believe?

I have put up the ones that can be,,and there are those that cant.
There are snags depending on the car , and your car is not unlike mine at the front end, I do not think it is possible to get into my 618 lamps and they are not listed either. I have just enogh room to the cover off one

I can send you later in the day a picture of the lamps on your car if they are shown

I just don't drive at night in France - I'm usually in a bar. I do, however, have to drive in the dark in the UK on my way to/from the tunnel, so I leave them as per UK normal and if I need lights for poor weather abroad I just use my fogs which are low and not left pointing.

I can Email you the paper and you can see what you think . it shows the 215 and code 614

I must have you address somewhere but I have sent out hundreds over this last few months and I can recognize it

Tried to PM you my email address but your inbox is full.

Yep, all the time - at least once per month.

The first time is the hardest - especially on the passenger side. You grope around feeling for all kinds of sophisticated MB-like levers only to be disappointed by what feels like a bit of tin! However, once you know where it is it's a doddle - takes me less than a minute per side and I change it in the queue for the tunnel.

Thanks for this. There must be more room than first appears I guess. Will give it a try again

It would be nice to have your feedback on this issue when you have read it It took ages to go through as a 4k file

I had a look under the bonnet and it looks as per the diagram for option 614, even though I have option 617. I rang the dealer to make sure and he said yes it was possible and to pop down and he'd show me how to do it.

Thanks again Malcolm.

Thank you for posting back, I hope that readers will accept this thread as being controversial and not a right or wrong thread.
We have 2 choices, those that have done it, and it might be possible on a like for like car, or info put out by MB. No one is necessary right or wrong, I am happy to send out the info
I do know from the past that some cannot be adjusted.

I'll report back once I've visisted the dealers. Although everything looked as per the diagram you sent me but I wasn't going to risk breaking anything.

Went to the dealers. He showed me how, on my 2000 W215, option code 617 Xenon lamps, the "lever" (more like a t-shaped tap) turns to the right to flatten the beam for continental driving and to the left to turn it back to UK.
