Heated Seats

I had one, it certainly adds slightly more comfort and they do heat fairly quickly. Not as quick as built in heated seats as they can't pull as much current from a cig socket, but they also instantly remove that cold leather feeling even before warmed up as they're soft polyester.

The issue with them is they slide on the seat and so tug on the elasticated ties that hold them in place, they then rip and the seat just moves around. You have to sit on it, then lift up, shuffle it into place as it'll be bunched up, folded over, etc.

Can't help on any advice, but will never have them in my car purely because of the way they would look on the seats. Wonder how much it would cost to retrofit seat heating elements to the standard seats...

Hi.
Have a look at autologigics.co.uk.
They did mine complete with original mercedes buttons and update MB database.
They did mine last year on the drive in a couple of hours
Hope this helps
Jim

Our S204 is the first car we've ever had with full leather AND heated seats - and at this time of year they are wonderful. If your CLK is a keeper, Litcan91's suggested pukka retrofit sounds a winner!

I have heated seats in my Volvo, but I don't use them, and I also had them on a Citroen previously owned and they broke, but I never missed them for the 2 minutes that they were used for.

I didn't have heated seats on my CLK that I owned for ten years and was never too bothered. I do have them on my C350 that I've owned for 3.5 years and quite like them. (They get more use than the seat cooling feature!) But there's no way I think they're so wonderful I'd go for add on seat warmers that sound uncomfortable and ugly. And I'd be unlikely to go for the expense of conversions. Heated seats are nice and an option I'd always look for in future purchases, but they wouldn't be a deal breaker.

PS No I don't have a big fat a**e that's well insulated!

Can you not have them retro-fitted from a donor car? you may be able to get the looms / switch gear / etc: to just swap over and so would retain the MB factory look and feel.
Just a thought :thumb:

The luck in finding any parts for the clk are minimal. If the seats are black the op might just be in luck as there are a number of those on eBay, unsure if they are heated or not though...

Thanks Karl, i have thought about it and decided not to bother, not really worth it the amount of times i use the car.
Many thanks anyway.
Terry.
