years ago when i used to have old vauxhalls and fords i used to get 3m of washer hose and wrap it arount the radiator hoses, in the winter the washers never froze,a very cheap fix.

Doesn't stop the last foot or so of pipe or nozzle frezzing though.

I think that is what Mercedes do nowadays but charge £135 for it!

Standard on a lot of models now which is a good thing.

it will stop freezing as the heat will travel through the hose

I have heated washer jets as standard on my E350 but also put in a very strong concentration 1:4 of screen wash (1:1 was goot to -36C!). Lowest temperature here over the last few weeks was -12C and the screen wash system always worked fine.

Yep, I think the merc's are heated now.

My CLK has a heated bottle and the jets are heated too....

All been fine this winter.

Just do not use readymix, never is very good.

I saw loads of people buying the ready mixed stuff when I went to Halfords in the thick of the bad weather. Made me laugh that none of them had probably checked it's usually only good to -2C and we were getting way lower than that!

Their normal stuff used to be really good but even that is only good to -6c now - cost-cutting at it's worst :dk:

The -2 stuff is rubbish for even a mild British winter - an orvernight frost will cause it to freeze.

its a pity mb dont use heated jets on the tail gate,iv blown my pipes apart twice this winter

The E350 is my first ever saloon car (always had hatchbacks) and I really do miss the rear wiper. I know why they aren't on the saloon models but the rear window does still get a healthy coating of water/snow that the heater just won't shift quick enough.

The other week , the (undiluted) bottle of screenwash concentrate , which is meant to stop the solution freezing , that I had lying outside froze !

I'm guessing it's not that cold there :)
