I have a w202 diesel. The heater does not seem to have much umph (can't think of correct word) when the blower is on. The temp is fine but the pressure of the air coming out seems very weak especially on the footwell. I have had the car for a little over a year now and it has always been the same. Also the front screen gets quite a lot of condensation on it and takes an age to clear even with air con on. I asked the indi chap who serviced it and he said pollen filter. This was until I said he had already charged me for a replacement at the last service. He then said "maybe a pipe off". I don't want to have a garage look at this due to cost but can anybody suggest where I could start to look before my feet freeze off...

There are heater valves hoses going to them,on the bulk head inside the bonnet drivers side, they jam fail. Easy job to change about £40 I think.

Is the pollen filter blocked?

All the Mercedes I have owned give very poor heat into the footwell, I used to wonder if there was any fitted:D I think the blower outlets are far away from the feet area and tend to direct the hot air to anywhere where your feet cannot go:D

Finally got round to the heater and bit the bullet and opted for a pollen filter.

Pollen filter changed and I was almost blown into the back seat by the thing (No dodgy comments please)

£20 supplied and fitted well spent...

Mine doesnt seem too bad but might have to try changing My pollen filter anyway as £20 doesnt sound too bad.

Although I was thinking that having rear footwell heating ducts connected to the front may take a good percentage away from the front!!!

I checked the prices for a pollen filter from a factored part place (Europarts I think) and I am pretty sure the price stated was about £12. When the independent chappie offered to s&f for £20 then £8 seemed a good deal instead of me having to do it myself. Lazy I know but what the hay...
