Good morning all, My newly bought 1997 sl320 is starting to show a rather worrying problem. When we try and get heat into the cabin it takes ages despite the car being run and up to temperature. Yesterday it took 2 hours for it to change from air con to 26 despite the digital display showing 26 the entire time.

Does anyone have any ideas and will it be an expensive fix?

Still smiling though

If you look in the how to threads, there is a step by step instruction of how to clean these thing, even avoiding losing screws where you would not want to loose them:D

Afternoon all, Television the link doesn't work can you send again? Looking at the how to threads, and enjoying topless driving while the rain is off.
I believe that a roof is like an umbrella, bloody useless unless its raining.......or heater doesn't work!!!!

BTW the lack of heat is both sides. When it finally kicks in it works both sides. If i keep the temp at certain setting it gets to that wen next starting the car quite quickly.

If you look at the EPC drawings and parts lists, you can see two or three different options. The valve could be part number 5 or 8 depending on the particular car. Your full VIN would let EPC show the valid option for your car.

You may be able to figure out from detali's EPC which parts belong to your car if you look at the additional data showing which parts go with different option codes.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I'm afraid i'm a bit of a berk when it comes to maintenence of cars and will more likely take it to my MB specialist to look at. The problem seems to have gone away for now though, as long as when i start the car it is set to over 20 it will put out warm or hot air at will.

Ever thought there may be an air lock in the system ?
