E250CDI Estate Sport
Well,

after long years with various bimmer's I'm waving goodbye to an msport 530D and in a couple of weeks saying hello to a new E250 CDI sport estate. Anything i should know up front chaps, beyond enjoying the new experience?

Cheers.

Take the car to have some rust proof work done...before it's tooo late!!

Really? Surely not....oh dear, not experienced rust on a car since my very old cavalier sri 130, wow that dates me.

I'm wondering how you will find only having 4 cylinders. I know it's powerful and economical, but will it be a bit gruff?

Just kidding pal...you should be fine! MB went through a "mid-life crisis" with panels rusting on most models from 96 to 2003ish. Seems much better now.

Don't worry, they don't all rust! I've no signs of rust on my CLS and neither did I see any on my previous E class estate. I think you're safe with the new ones! :D

Give them time. My galvanised E320 2005 rusted. As did corneds car. A 2005. Remember him ;)

212 should be ok but rust is a major mb issue

Was slightly worried over the four pot, but i guess we'll see. I spend most of my time now on motorway now so can always turn up the volume on the archers...

If mostly motorway then the 4 pot is king imho.

No point in the V6 if ya not hoonin' about a bit.

Rust is still an issue on late 2007 cars, just had both rear arches and the tailgate done on mine! :wallbash:

I remember the days, After the cavalier sri I bought a calibra, what a car I love it to bits....it rattled...but you lived with it.

I thought galvanising sorted that? It certainly did for FIAT when they introduced it on the Tipo in the late 80s. Pretty disgusting really when you think of the price of MBs and yet humble Fords etc haven't had rust issues for years....
