Well, an S124

I just bought a 300TE-24 which I'm picking up at the weekend.
It's in lovely condition for its age, and I can't wait to get behind the wheel.

I'm sure I will be back with techy questions later, because I know that the aircon doesn't work and the central locking is a bit dodgy. This forum's already helped me out deciding which one to buy.

Cheers!

Good morning and welcome

Hello and Welcome from me too :thumb:

Is it the smoke silver H reg one? If so it was a great price!! I was sooo tempted!
Welcome from a fellow new boy! (still not picked mine up yet but got a deposit holding a 300d)

Yes, it is!
I pick it up Saturday and I am so excited about it.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago at £1400, but then saw another locally for 1k.
However, the local car turned out to be sold ages ago and the dealer appeared to be a bit dodgy, so I was a bit disappointed.

When I checked out the insurance on the 24v it was a bit dear, too, so I had resigned myself to having to wait for something else.

However when I saw the price drop I offered him the full amount there and then to secure the car. It was what I was going to try and haggle to anyway! The drop covered the extra insurance cost.

And then, as if to confirm that I am fated to own this car, as I was buying insurance and correcting some details the premium dropped by £300 as well! It's clearly meant to be. You never know I might even be able to afford to get the aircon fixed.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

Welcome mate, I don't post often but the chaps on here know their stuff and have helped me out on any problems I have had

I picked up the 300TE today and drove it the 200 or so miles home, and it took it in its stride.
I am just so happy with it. It's a superb car. Not a squeak or rattle from the trim. The leather is in great condition, the wood is perfect. All the switches work, the oil pressure and water temperature are perfect. Kickdown results in it shooting off into the distance with a glorious noise. It's quiet, refined and comfortable on the motorway, and I love the cruise control. It's weird and awesome at the same time.

It's not perfect, and I will be seeking some advice here tomorrow about a couple of things, but on the whole, I absolutely love it!

Well done indeed. We look forward to helping where we can.

CHEERS

Just going through the service history. It would seem that the second owner fitted chrome wheel arch covers, as their deterioration was noted by the garage. So that's why there is a small amount of rust on all four arches!

Ah well, she's an old girl by now and just take a look at it's younger brother the W210 for just how lucky you are with the rust!
