Hello I'm NEW! 2007 E500 Questions!

+1 is it the one with cream leather?

Our grey is bad enough for kids but does look very nice.

Very much a 'Q' car also

Make sure the warranty labour rates are representative of a decent dealer, say at least £100/hr plus VAT.

:):):):):):)

Just spoke to my wife, she's great, she said 'it does sound a good car' so I've just put a deposit on it with a refund if it's not as described!

I think I just got a bargain, is £14k good for an 07 E500.......so excited! I'm a Mercedes owner, nearly!

Sounds like a good price to me. Mine was the same price at 5 years old. And you've got another 80 bhp. :-)

When you get it, have a play then come back to the site and ask how everything works.

There an E Class manual and a COMAND manual and they're both several hundred pages thick.

To short cut the process ask the guys on here and you'll save a bit of time.

^ If your happy thats all that matters :)

Its a 5.5 V8 with enough room to do almost anything you would want to in a car :)

Ours has been a real work horse and moved just about anything.

Must have been £50K plus new?

With all those options ticked I'd say nearer £60k (leccie taligate, leccie boot floor, heated rear seats, vented fronts, dynamic seats, memory pack, parking sensors, HK, full fat COMAND, Linguatronic, tyre pressure sensors, privacy glass, phone pre-wire, etc)

IIRC mine cost the original owner over £58k.

Agreed, my options priced individually came to £16K, though as a bundle there would be savings to be made.

Just finished my call to the dealer. He'll transfer my reg over too, which is good. It doesn't say it in the advertisement but it is all MB service history.

I am hoping to pick it up next Friday and be assured I will have lots hopefully good questions!

LondonScottish, how excited were you when you placed a deposit on your car? I don't think I'll sleep, happy Christmas me..........

Very :-)

Then when the funds finally hit my bank account I dropped everything, ran out the office door, called the insurance company and sorted the cover as I drove off to Sunningdale.

It got even better as I hit the M25 on the way back to London (no, really) as I had selected a particularly punchy Ibiza CD (blast from the past) and cranked up the HK to an unbelievable level. A true epiphany. I had no idea that a sound system like that in a quiet luxo-barge could sound so astonishingly good.

Over the following few weeks I had several more epiphanies, one of which involved finding an excuse to go for a quick solo blast two weeks later in Norfolk. This is when I first selected Sport on the box and really let it rip. Aha. So THAT'S what happens.....

Since then I've had loads. Often involving blasting long distances across the UK or France, loaded to the gunwales feeling in complete control and in utter luxury. They really are remarkable motors.

I...err...indicated I was looking for diesel and...errr...bought the 500 and got away with it. She only realised two weeks later when I was overtaking some dawdlers in Norfolk.
.

Now you've got me interested !! Welcome OP, I can vouch to the Merc. V8, had one in my W210 great engines.

I don't think that I have ever felt that way about my Lexus, yes it's a lovely car but maybe what you're describing is 'soul', with a big load area...

I like Lexi. I had an original GS300 in the US for a week many years ago and was very impressed with that. And the E is only second car I've driven where you can set the convenience function to move the steering column out of the way when you get out :-)

I suppose the E was a big step up for me as I had spend the previous 7 years behind the wheel of a much smaller and older Merc - the C43.

So it was more of a jump for me that I imagine it will be for you - but hopefully you'll be impressed with it.

Since I cannot fit a towbar to a E55 S211 you have just had me doing a search on E500's in S211's

That 'could' be the way forward...if I can get my head round getting nothing like the 40 - 45mpg I currently get :)

60 in 5.4 seconds !!! its almost as quick as a 55 and looks so standard.

mmmmmmm

I agree with the seat covers....it 'looks' great but how it will wear....

Post some pics when you have it :)

Fast aren't they, but the AMGs come with 5sp box etc which in my view is better.

Still, as you said to me, faster yes but worth double the fuel bill, are they double the fun?

The seats will be fine, blue jeans may stain the bases etc but other than that, they'll barely wear.

I LOVE that fact this car has black headlining, I love black headlining. Its just "better"

Yes....nice car good luck with it and welcome. IMHO you cannot beat an 211 estate car.

Lovely motor and one which will surprise many)

Maybe change the wheels? Depends on your preference.

Thank you all for your comments! I feel quite lucky to have found this car, the original owner chose the options well, may have been a demo though?

I'm leaving the wheels as I, fortunately, have a set of winter tyres that will fit!

I'll take some less fuzzy pics and post them when I see it on Saturday.

My wife is quite excited too, which is good news...
