My next car is CLK or SLK!
Hello,

I've just joined MBClub! I've been debating with myself whether to buy an old SLK or CLK! I would welcome any pros and cons to this subject from MBClub members as I have never owned a Merc before.

I was particularly interest to hear people's experience of living with the soft-top roof on the CLK. Any water leakage or road noise problems?

For the SLK, can you fit a full golf bag in the boot?

Many thanks for your help!

Kanti

Hi and welcome to the club, I cant comment on the SLK (yet) but you wont have any worries with the soft top for noise or insulation and on mine i get no water ingress from the roof! i think you should consider 2 people or 4?
I have had the CLK for 2 years and can not fault it (320) but then again my next car is probably going to be an SLK just take your golf bag when you go to view.

Tony.

I don't know how big a set of golf bats are but I know how big the boot on an SLK isn't. MAYBE angled one set at an angle.

I'm assuming you're talking about the W208 97-02 CLK and the R170 96-04 SLK?

Having had both now, there are both very good cars, had a 320 CLK with the 3.2 V6, bulletproof engine, sold mine with 147,000 miles and still drove very well indeed. Rust was the main issue I had, but find a good one and keep it clean and you shouldn't see too much of it.

As for the SLK, only had mine for a couple of weeks so haven't had a chance to see if my golf bag and clubs will fit, at a guess (I'll have to comfirm this weekend) fitting them diagonally you might do it but as I say I'll have to confirm later, you won't be able to have the roof down with those in the boot though...

The missus could just about fit a weeks shopping in and still have the roof down..

Are you going to change your username after you've decided which one your going for?
