Hi guys,

Just been shopping and put a few bags in the back, got back home and boot is not opening at all.
The boot open button is not responding at all, neither is the button in the center console.

The car is a '99 W208 CLK, if thats any help and need to get my suit out the boot for an engagement this evening!!!!

The seats aren't able to fold down either!
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

turn the key to the 45 degree position and turn whilst putting some weight on the lid.. you have trapped a bit of a bag in the lock..

Have you tried the key blade? Boot locks often seize because of lack of use, lots of penetrating oil and patience is needed.

It doesn't seem to be letting me turn the key at all, i can push the lock in when the key is in or out. But there is no response at all. . . .
Airport run is due this week as well!!!
Any other ideas??

you wont be able to get in unlesss you get the key to turn to 45 degrees... try some WD40 in the lock if you have...

Cheers Jay, will give it a shot when i get home from work today...

Still no luck, sprayed loadsa WD40 in there yesterday and nothing is happening. As i said i can push the lock in but not twist the key.
Any other ideas before i contact my dealer?

Has the fuse blown for the boot release ? I am sure I have seen a thread somewhere on how to get to the fuse (which is in the boot) and replace it.

Details on how to get to the fuse wern't given but someone had the same problem.

OK....found it.....try the guy here:

Wiggle key back and forth lots, more wd40 (proper penetrating oil might be better), wiggle more, more wd40 etc. After a while the key should start to turn a few degrees, after than it's just a case of keeping going until you get full movement. Other members have got there with some peristance (of course there is always the chance it is so bad you won't shift it).

If your key has the removable metal blade like mine did, you could put it in and twist a little harder using a pair of pliers. That together with WD40 did the trick for me when I had the same problem.

Still No Luck On This...
I Have Taken The First Aid Kit Out, The Foam Underneath And Felt For Screws, And Have Got Nothing!!!

Anyone Else...any Ideas????!?!?!?:( :(

Hi Taff,
thanks for your advice, with the help of my gorgeous and slender girlfriend Gemma we removed the firstaid tray then she reached in and un did the 2 screws holding the plastic panel, this allowed me to retrieve 90% of my work gear I still have to get at the seat backs to get into the boot, that is a toughie!!
Once again thanx M8

We could've done with pictures.....just so we know how it's done, of course..;)

I've done this on my CLK. This is how I got round it.

Take the first aid kit out.
You will have an opening and your hand should fit through this.
You will feel a cable on either side, this is the cable that unlatches the rear seats.
Next I got a piece of long 1x1 piece of wood, cut a V at one end.
Now get the V on the cable and push downwards, you have to push quiet hard.

You will hear the latch release and the rear seat shoul be free.

Once you have done this it will give you access to the boot.
There are 4 bolts holding the lock in place undo these and the boot will open. Look for some of my posts I have a picture of this on here somewhere.

Next spend a couple of days freeing the lock with WD40.
I just left mine in oil over the weekend, and by Sunday night the lock was OK.

Hope this helps.

Alex.
