Hi quick question is there an easy way to disable my car it's a w124 200E manual. I know I can disconnect the battery remove the ht lead is there anything else I could do

Thank Richard

Wheel clamp and steering wheel clamp to immobise the vehicle so it cant be just driven away.
Order a new key from your local dealership, remember to take in all your documents.
When the new key arrives, book the vehicle in to have the tracks deleted on the keys and new tracks put on (if keys are chipped)
Have the work done, and after a couple of weeks MB database should be up to date with the latest key details so you can place the order for the 2nd new key.
If non-chipped key, get it booked in for a lock set change.
Slap the whole lot into your insurance company that SHOULD reimburse you with all costs.

agree on security but this is a W124 ordinary keys have no chips as far as I know. For security I would suggest changing the locks and ignition barrel. It might be covered by insurance, it may mean they write off the car so read the small print. I'd be off down the scrappy for replacement kit, a pain but that's probably your main option.

I think none of this is relevant to a W124

I'd do what Abecketts says and buy a lock set from a breaker

In the meantime you can remove the fuse or relay that feeds the fuel pump. Depends on what engine your car has really - but immobilising it electrically is probably your best bet

If someone really wants to steal it they'll have it anyway

Thanks for the replys
I'll get a steering wheel lock for it as a stop gap. A trip to the breakers for a lock set
I'm going to set up my web cam to watch the car just in case the come back. Ive had to change the locks in the house and replace the padlock on the garage door. It never rains but it poors

Take the rotor arm out of the dizzy. Much less cumbersome than a battery to carry around.

Put it on bricks and remove the wheels.

As you have new keys for the garage, park it in there and lock it up.

If it were me I would just remove the accelerator pedal assembly. Should be 1 bolt, and it pops off. Very easy to put back too and would cause minimal disruption should you need to drive your car. HTH.

I used to wire up my car stereo's (the type with the removable face) so that the electric arial trigger lead also triggered a relay which switched on and off the low tension circuit of the coil.

If the face of the radio is removed or the radio is turned off - no spark to the plugs.

A very cheap but effective immobiliser.
