Hi

I'm new to MB and at the moment drive a 2005 Range Rover but I'm tempted by a 1997 MB S500 W140 limo.

Is there anything I should be looking out for? the car has done 74,000 chauffeur driven miles.

What is the real world fuel economy? and does anyone have experience of LPG conversions on this model?

Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Hi and welcome to the forum Terry. I have no direct experience of these cars as an ownership proposition but there are plenty here who will help you

I would imagine 25-ish on a motorway run. Teens round town.

Better than a RR but you're still talking heavy car/large engine/auto box.

Unless you do a big mileage dont think LPG conversion is worthwhile. Fuel consumption will be heavy but unless doing a lot of miles it makes little difference to overall running costs.
History is vital - far more important than the low mileage. Well maintained these will do astronomical mileages. This also makes them ideal for clocking so check the paperwork thoroughly. Check all the electric toys and aircon work properly.
