As some of you are aware i have retroed comand in my w202 my next project is to install a phone/bluetooth. What would be the easiest route to source parts from w210 or w208? I have looking ages for parts at no joy

I have couple of questions regarding the phone system, the phone controller does this work specific to the phone cradle or doesn't this matter?

Parts needed please correct me if more parts are needed:

Phone harness
Phone cradle
Phone controller

Anything else?

There are phone retrofit guides with part numbers etc on www.mercupgrades.com

What will be needed depends on if your putting in the old fixed cradled system for which is the controller is cradle dependant or the newer UHI system if it is possible.

I have been on that site although its very usefull i found no reference about the phone module. I don't want to spend to much and want bluetooth. Am i correct on comand 2 only UHI is compatible?

The only real option I can think of for a W202 with retrofit comand is to get the MB phone kit for the Nokia 6300 and then use a Viseoo module (MBU1000)to convert to Bluetooth.

On the early version of COMAND that's you're only option I'm afraid as far as I know...

Bluetooth wasn't an option on the W208 / W210, the phone integration was always model specific (by phone type)

The harness from the cradle does that go straight into comand? I first thought i would only need a cradle and harness to make it work but now found out it needs a phone module aswell as cradle? All this is confusing me arrrrh

I think you've got it all there, cradle, harness / loom and a module (also known as PSE module).

The modules varied for types of phone, I remember we had to upgrade ours to support the Nokia 6310i in both our W203 and the W220.

I probably have a spare cradle somewhere which supports the Nokia 6310 but it's useless without the PSE module and the wiring loom.

EDIT - Sorry just remembered a microphone is also needed, however I believe the loom actually contains the Microphone too (which is normally mounted near the rear view mirror).

The PSE module is really hard to get, sine i have been searching on ebay haven't seen it once. i have sourced phone harness from w208 these parts are really hard to get. I won't be using a nokia phone as i have an i phone i will surely go down the bluetooth route. So really i want be using the cradle i will just need the bottom connection bit

Would you have a part no for pse module for nokia? I have seen some on ebay

A230 820 51 85 - Nokia 6310/6310i
A203 820 25 85 - Nokia 6310/6310i
A203 820 99 26 - Nokia 6210i and earlier (e.g. 6150)

I'm think you're missing the point - your only option to get the phone working as far as I know is to use the Nokia 6210 / 6310 cradle with Viseeo bluetooth adaptor.

When you say bottom connection bit are you thinking of the UHI kit plastic triangular piece?

The ones i have seen have part no 220 820 57 26 and A203 820 32 26

A203 820 32 26 is for the Nokia 6150/6110/5110 so as I was saying if you fit the whole kit with cradle and buy a Viseoo adaptor that would work in terms of having phone integration and bluetooth support.

I'm afraid that I don't know which phone/s the A220 (S Class) part no unit would fit. However, the fact that it's a 220 part no doesn't mean you can't use it. The information you need is what phone/s it supports.

A W202 is D2B and you can install UHI phone system into cars with D2B. Comand Online sell the retrofit kit.

I thought normal nokia cradles are all UHI?

I thought normal nokia cradles are all UHI?

There are two types of phone system D2B & UHI, they are not interchangable.

The D2B system which was fitted to D2B cars (pretty much anything before 2003/4) had fixed phone specific cradles which were not user interchangable and a specific PSE module for a specific phone.

With a UHI kit the cradles are user changable (i.e. click in / click out).

npuk is indeed correct, there is a UHI retrofit kit for D2B cars: Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes Phone/Bluetooth :: Phone System Retrofit Kits :: Phone retrofit kit for D2B based cars

If you bought the retrofit kit above you would still need a cradle to make this Bluetooth enabled or a phone cradle for whichever phone you want to use. Also note the specific guidance on the more informaiton page, "Please note that the Mercedes Bluetooth HFP cradle does not work with D2B systems, you will need to use the Viseeo MB-2 or the more expensive SAP cradle."

From your original post I gleened that you already had a loom and were looking on ebay for parts. If you're trying to do this mod on a budget then the D2B route is likely to be cheaper as you can relatively easier source used parts.

The UHI retrofit kit is something that won't be readily available on the used market.

All of the information you need is on the Mercupgrades site as well as comandonline...

I learnt a lot from Richards site (Mercupgrades)...

In my W210 I have nokia cradle with wiring loom and etc.
Was planning to take it out cuz my phone is not compatible, I can take pics of it and post so you can see if its the one you need

Tolly

That would be great iv'e sent a Pm to you with my e mail address

Have you got a part no? What phone is it for?

Sorry mate
I have been away from the car so didnt get a chance to look yet. I am at work now and will do a quick web surf to see if there is something similar so I can give you more info
