Hi

I have a 2009 s320 cdi that has become a bit of a nightmare.

The original engine seized, it was an ex Chauffer car with 180k and I suspect that the service history was falsified - my dumb mistake.

I bought a 2nd hand 46,000 replacement from a respected and established engine dealer and had it fitted by a independent Merc specialist with a good reputation.

To cut a very long story short the car has problems starting and shows a cam shaft sensor fault. Sensor has been changed. The independent spent many hours on the car and can not fix it. He sent it to the local Mercedes dealer who said that they could not fix easily and needed to take out the gear box to investigate.

I took the car to a second Merc independent who believes that the problem may be the timing chain but does not have the equipment to fix. Engine supplier has said that the engine was tested and working fine and that the installation must be at fault. If an engine fault is proven they will supply a new engine but not pay labour.

Does anyone have any ideas or know of a independent Merc specialist who is good with serious engine issues / could replace timing chain. I do not have confidence with the Mercedes Dealer and their level of proper engineering ability given previous issues I have had. Midlands area would be ideal.

Saga has ran on for 4 months and I am getting close to giving up.
