e300 turbodiesel avantgarde
hi, all this seems to be a great place to get answers to questions nobody can help me with...
i drive an e300 1998 turbodiesel avantgarde saloon... when i turn on the heater there is no warm air, only cold and very cold. the blower works fine and the ec button and the recirculating button work.. could this be a simple fuse problem? ive checked the fuses under the rear seat and under the bonnet. please help

thanks.... is there anywhere else i should be looking at fuses, i have no manual for my motor so im looking in the dark a bit.

the most likely cause is a sticking duo valve. if you look next to your front fuse box, in front of the brake servo you will see this valve. it has two round silver coloured solenoids, about 30mm in diameter. if you unplug the connector to these valves you should get full heat, try it, if it is still cold with the valve disconnected then it will be this valve for sure! a very common problem on many models and i have changed three in as many weeks.

the connector your talking about, is the electrical connector that i unplug? i have seen this duo valve and the water pipes connected? thanks for the info so far.

yes, it is a plug with 3x wires in, slap bang next to the valves and clearly part of them. i doubt disconnecting will help, but it rules out the entire control system, and leaves only a blocked heater matrix as the other possibility - which is absolutely unheard of on your car.

i unplugged the wires today and nothing happened, so i removed the duo valve and stripped it down a bit, the rubber inside had corroded and blocked the inlet pipes so i removed the clog up of rubber and dirt, replaced the seals and it works perfect,

HEAT AT LAST......

thanks for your help, its much appreciated..:thumb:
