Brabus D5 (E280 CDI) Avantgarde, E280 CDI Sport Estate, E320 Avantgarde now sold
Hi all. At 0430 this morning started off from my drive and at the first corner the car seemed to loose power and sputter a bit. Further along it stopped moving and would start moving again sporadically... Then engine cut off. Started up again and seemed to drive along but shortly started loosing power again.
Stopped by the roadside and when I restarted the car; get no acceleration and then the engine eventually cuts out.
I recently had the instrument cluster LEDs repaired and have done a oil n filter and air filter change...
Also the tank shows almost at reserve...

:-(

S210 E320 petrol

Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated!

this is classic symptoms of a failed MAF sensor..
not that costly and usualy go at the 100-120k mark. mine went at 99k..

it usualy makes the car feel and drive rough with the added low power feel and struggling for air.. your best bet is to get it on a diagnostic test at a local benz indi to make sure 100%.. but this is 99.9% a failed maf mate... i hope you get it sorted..

another idea is to find someone (possible on here) with a 210 and swap over the mafs to see, my local shop borrowed me one to check.. if you was closer i would be glad to help..

Weird...
Went back to the car and it seems know?!
Any ideas gents?

sorry post b4 last should have read it's ok now...

i did put 5 litres of fuel in it though :o

... and then another 65 litres when i got to the garage :o

Looks like the fuel gauge might be a little out? ...

called up MB to ask what the price of a MAF sensor is... 240 odd quid?!!!!!!!
no way!
my passat cost me 30 odd quid a few years ago...

Thanks Olly. :-)
Been driving it all day and seems fine.
I think the 70llitres it took to fill up might be a bit of a give away though!
Will leave it in your good hands to see what she needs and how we should prioritise...

I unexpectedly ran out of petrol in my 210 a couple of weeks after buying it as well.

I was on my way to work watching the fuel guage go down and the computer show how many miles left. When I got to work, without problems, the computer said something like half a gallon left and computed that I could travel abut 15 miles on this.

The petrol station is just about a quarter of a mile from work and I could have gone straight there, but I opted to go after work instead.

After work, I got the car park exit and the car cut out as I tried to pull away. I tried to start it, and it spluttered a bit, then failed to fire after that. :o

It was then that I concluded that the "miles to go" calculation must use the spot mpg at that time. And the car was hot and running economically when i got to work. When I left work, the engine was cold and running very uneconomically and it must have used all that was left just getting to the car park exit!!

crazy 210 behavior lol, keep us updated mate...
