Hey all, I've searched the forums, I've searched google and youtube but I still can't find a set of instructions on how to remove the headlights, I understand that the bumper has to come off but i dont know how and I really don't want to hack and pull away at it as i'm no mechanic... I'm installing an aftermarket HID kit, should be easy but as with all things mercedes the headlights are well installed and not easy to do!

The car is a c class w203 coupe 56 plate. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! I had the HID'S fitted on the old car and it passed it's MOT twice with them fitted, I know they're illegal but I never got pulled over in two years and not once did I ever get flashed from other drivers... I had seen this clip on youtube but it seems like a very long winded effort just to remove headlights, I would have thought there is an easier way surely? I mean for starters I dont have a car jack in a nice warm garage! I'm very reluctant to pull bits from the car in case they wont go back together properly, anyone else know of a good way to remove headlights? Any help greatly received...

The videos show you the proper way to do it. The cheat way is to take the front wheels off or turn them on full lock and release the wheel arch liner and try to work on the third headlight bolt blind reaching down into the dark. It has been done before but it takes just as long and you'll get filthy and cut to ribbons trying. Getting the third bolt out blind is one thing trying to put it back is something else. It isn't an easy job and on one occasion I had to get help to get the sliders back on the bumper. Either do it the way the video says or get someone to fit them for you. BTW the HID arguement has raged for ever on here. HID conversions without auto leveling and headlamp wash are illegal but the MOT will never fail your car as it doesn't test these parts. If, however, you have an accident or get pulled over it gives everyone the opportunity to through the book at you.
