Help with c220 please

Hello. I have just purchased a merc c220 cdi. It has a auto box but also can use it as a semi auto, i drove the car back home and parked it up. A few weeks later went to move it, it started fine but wouldnt select a gear. It just poped up on the dash "select gear" but wont go out of neutral. Also come up saying check transmission oil. What would be the problem? If anyone can help would be gteat

Check the ATF. You may have to buy a dip stick from eBay. Or take it to a garage. If desperate stick a length of curtain wire down the dip stick tube. It maybe that you have lost all fluid. Can you see under the car for any evidence of ATF on the ground?

Ok il give that a try and let you know. If you look down the the back of the engine on the n/s there is a damp oil patch

Matt. If there is no ATF? Don't run the engine. The pumps don't like running dry. You need to find the cause of the leak. It may be a pilot bush. Cheap fix if it is that. Fingers crossed.

hi matt did you sort your gears out, is your one the manual gearbox with electric clutch.
