Hey guys,

I'm looking into Distronic for quite some time and there is literally nothing available online that would lead to the solution.

I wanted to ask if someone has ever retrofitted Distronic in his W211 by any chance.

Thank you!

I wouldnt bother, its a PITA with many failures/warnings/malfunctions, plus if someone cuts across you its reaction is quite scary.

Thank you for your input but it's not quite what I expected to read. I heard many of these stories but I think it is quite interesting to have on our long drives in the US.

I've got distronic on my car and thinks its fantastic for long motorway drives. :thumb:

Of course it still requires being fully alert when driving but does reduce the physical effort (I use hand controls) and it stops me getting cramp in my brake/accelorator hand.

Far too much that could go wrong for me to consider this a wise DIY retrofit, but will be interesting to see how you get on if you do go that route.

Distronic is great, as Peter says its great on long motorway journeys, even on the A12, its a bit scary when someone stops immediately in front, you have to wake up and start driving again!

back to the original subject, the only person who i know that can fit this is mbenznl, he has retrofitted distronic many times!

I believe than SunMan (Sunil Patel) has also done this - he retrofitted Distronic into a W203 if I recall corretly.

He's stateside so may be able to offer some help...

Richard is doing this very job at the moment on his SL. PM him or send him an email to [email protected]

Hope this helps,

Great posts. I know that Steve does it. But I'm not sure when he's back on the west coast.

Where is SunMan? US or UK? I believe I send him an email long time ago but I never got a response. Still alive?

He's in the US - I'll see if I've got his contact details. I believe he also setup in the Mercedes retrofit business (his modding started as a hobby!).

He was pretty good responding via email when I needed any assistance - perhaps he's got a lot on at the moment...

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Like I said before, this was last year as I contacted him.

Sunman is in Houston TX on the Sw freeway.
