Help with Distronic retrofitting

Nice, so he s medical doctor gutting out cars now? Nice... Hm is he traveling as well like Steve?

Yeah I remember he was a Medic - think he was studying when I first got in touch with him for some advice on my W203 and the AMG kit / exhaust- we started with pretty similar cars - stock C320's...

I don't believe he travels like Steve does, but no harm getting in touch & asking them - if they can't maybe they could recommend someone on the West Coast???

Distronic Retrofit

Hi there.

I have retrofitted a W220 MY00 and C215 MY04 so far.
Beside the horrible cost if you have to buy new parts, its a easy and straight forward installation. (make sure that you have all EXACT part #'s before you are starting)

The part which is a little more complicated is the coding.
The W220 MY00 has had no SCN coding and all coding can be done with an offline DAS System.

Later on more and more SCN coding was introduced and nowadays you need to modify your datacard in Stuttgart first then pull the required SCN codes with an Online DAS.

Hope i could help.

Cheers, Frank

PS: I have a pre MY04 W211 Sensor to sell...

Hey Frank,

how do I find out about the correct part numbers to begin with? Since my car is a 2004 E320 do you think it is possible to do the version coding etc. with my offline DAS?

What I found in WIS is the following but I'm not sure if that's all I need:
- front sensor part #2115401617 (40 in diagram) $34.50
- harness 2115408033 (300) 56.92.

Control module [444] may need coding.

I know I need the new grill and the shifter plate as well. But I couldn't find these parts yet.

Thanks!

Hello Unkown.

Go to epc, enter your VIN and disable the datacard filter.
Then you have the option to see all the required and valid parts.
Coding is required on ME, EZS/ZGW,DTR,KI, EGS/VSG. (Sorry i only know the german terms)
No option for you to do it offline. You might need to update some software too.

Cheers, Frank

PS: Your prices look funny. I think you are heading more in the direction of €4000/5400$.

No problem as I'm German :)

Hm how did you program all of these then? Do you have a subscription to do SCN coding?

Thanks for the hint with the filter on EPC. Will check again. Would your sensor fit in my car? If you don't mind send me a PM.

I believe the part #40 is just fixing parts kit, excluding part #30 which comes from the price list at about 2400 Euros (A2115400617, German price, excluding VAT, depends on the correct sensor for the car).

I'm sure I got a quote from a chap in NL who has retrofitted Distronic and I think it was 3,000Euro which I decided I didn't want to bother with although it's a feature I really want. My plan was to sell mine and buy one with a similar spec plus Distronic and BOSE however it would seem that high spec W220 are hard to get hold of at the moment.
