just picked up a second hand ml270 2001
very impressed with it for some reason i did not check windows
when i bought it this mourning.

anyway on motorway back i tried to open pressed the buttons a couple of times but nothing and whilst pressing the button occasionally the revs speedo fuel and temp gauges all drop to zero like losing power.

any ideas

thanks

in fact they are not working at all now , everytime you press it affects gauges on clocks im suspecting a faulty ground maybe.

anyone have any ideas where i should start with the problem , i still detailing the car at the moment and fitted a new stereo today but next week id like to sort this problem out but dont know where to start to be honest.

you can here a noise from some where when you press window buttons but nothing happens :dk: other then gauges drop :(.

Thanks for the help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No even a hello see ya laters

Hi, It is sad that no ML owner has responded to your problem, but however I would have thought your first recourse would be to whip off the door cards and see whats happening inside. I would speculate that inside the door you will find a mess of wires and broken plastic pieces due to the age of the window winding mechanism. If this is the case then only recently I bought off of Ebay some replacement parts for the g/f's Megane for £25 which was a lot cheaper than the £230 that Renault quoted. If you get stuck for knowing what bits go w here and there is no manual available , then go speak to the parts man at your local Merc dealers and ask him to print you off a pic of the winding mechanism, they are normally very obliging.

Have a check of the relays in the under bonnet fuse box, there is a list of the relay functions inside the lid.
IIRC there is a relay to power up all 4x windows, I suggest temporarily swapping it with another of the same type (there are plenty in there) to aid diagnosis.
If the relay is not in the under bonnet fuse box, have a look in the one in the side of the driver's footwell.
